Sanitation workers in Windham, New Hampshire, undertook a remarkable effort to retrieve a resident's lost wedding ring, sifting through 20 tons of trash at the local transfer station. The quest began when Windham General Services Director, Dennis Senibaldi, received a call from a town selectman, connecting him with a resident who accidentally discarded her wedding band with the trash. To locate the lost ring, Senibaldi gathered details such as the time of disposal, the contents of the trash bag, and the type of car used. Surveillance camera footage was then reviewed to identify the specific location of the discarded trash. The search involved digging through 12 feet of trash bags at the transfer station. Despite the challenging task, the team successfully located the wedding ring approximately two hours into the search. Senibaldi recounted the moment of discovery, stating, "I grabbed the ring, brought it up, cleaned it up for her, called her up. She was heartbroken on Wednesday and more than ecstatic on Friday." This isn't the first time Windham's sanitation team has engaged in such a rescue mission. Senibaldi noted that this was the third instance in two years where they sifted through trash at the transfer station to recover a lost wedding ring. The success of this operation adds another chapter to the team's track record of dedication in reuniting residents with their precious belongings.
