Helon Francis, the former 2018 Calypso Monarch, expressed his pride in Trinidad and Tobago by stating "We are mighty. Trini is in our DNA." He will perform his song "Mighty" at the Dimanche Gras competition, which will take place tonight at the Queen's Park Savannah in Port of Spain along with 11 other competitors. The draw for positions was held at the Hall of Greats, Kaiso House, at the Savannah on Friday, and the competitors passed the "acid test" at the newly refurbished Skinner Park in San Fernando during the Calypso Fiesta before advancing to the finals. Francis was pleased to hear that renowned arranger Leston Paul had expressed interest in working with him and felt "humbled and honoured." Accompanying Francis were his father, Trevor, and sister, Nekoda Francis. The winner of the Dimanche Gras competition will receive a prize of $800,000 and a new car. Reigning Calypso Monarch Terri Lyons will perform her song "House Cleaning" in the first position, while Chuck (Roderick Gordon), a former calypso monarch, joked about the "real mathsin'" after selecting the twelfth position.
